On December 26th 2025, the Korean Government announced their intention to end overseas adoption.
Lee Seu-ran, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said: “We will stabilize the public adoption system and phase out overseas adoptions.” Regarding the specific timeline, she explained, “We plan to halt it within two to three years, with the goal of reaching zero cases by 2029 at the latest.”
